For nearly 95 years, the American Red Cross has been the leader in aquatic safety, training more than 200,000 lifeguards and teaching nearly 2 million people to swim each year. And with our newly revised Lifeguarding and Water Safety programs, there’s never been a better time to choose the Red Cross. Our full line of new and revised lifeguarding courses has been updated with the latest science in first aid, CPR and emergency cardiovascular care, and includes the latest in rescue skills and safety protocols.
With a full line of aquatic safety training programs and services, the Red Cross is an ideal choice to help aquatic professionals build a comprehensive program that best meets the unique needs of their facilities. Facilities can now choose from four stand-alone lifeguarding courses, making it easier to complete training at their own location, regardless of the facility’s features or water depths, and helping participants concentrate on the skills and rescue situations that are most likely to occur while on the job. The newly revised Lifeguarding program includes stand-alone courses in:
- Lifeguarding
- Waterfront Lifeguarding
- Waterpark Lifeguarding
- Shallow Water Attendant – NEW!
In addition to lifeguard training, aquatic professionals can choose from several other newly revised offerings under the new Lifeguarding program. These include:
- Lifeguard Management
- GuardStart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow (youth ages 11–14)
- Aquatic Examiner Service
The Red Cross also features a comprehensive Swimming and Water Safety program that’s affordable and easy for facilities to implement. Swimming and Water Safety offerings include:
- Learn-to-Swim (six levels from beginner to advanced)
-
- Parent and Child Aquatics
- Longfellow’s WHALE Tales (classroom-based water safety presentation for youth ages 5–12)
- Water Safety Today
